Your country in Europe

What your clubs do in Europe now counts for the whole country: European places, reputation and a slice of the money. And the world no longer gets richer all on its own.

At a glance
  • The coefficient ranking now moves: results in Europe win your country European places, or lose them.
  • As your country climbs, so does your league – more TV money, bigger sponsors, bigger crowds.
  • Above every league: your country’s rank and European places. Tap it for the full ranking.
  • After the Continental Cup final, a letter brings the new ranking.
  • Below the table: where the cup winners are heading in Europe.
In numbers
51countries now fight for their European places in the coefficient ranking, with 100 leagues and 1,458 clubs. The yardstick is the real UEFA ranking from 2009 to 2026.
4.5 to 5.0places is how far a country moves in five seasons on average. In real football it's 4.1.
13 to 15%of countries jump ten places or more in five seasons. In real football it's around 10%. That's on purpose: one strong season can carry a small country a long way.
1.4 to 1.7places is all the top six countries move in five seasons. It's hard to shift the top, in real football it's 1.0.
3%more revenue, at most, for all the world's clubs together after 20 seasons. Before, it was up to 32%.
24%more in wages, at most, for all players together after 20 seasons. In 1.4 it was 25%, without the new brake over 40%.
What went wrong while building it

The world got richer on its own

In the test runs over 20 seasons we noticed the whole world kept getting richer without anyone doing more. When a country climbed the ranking, it suddenly got TV money like a big market. With that money its clubs got stronger, won more in Europe and climbed even further. A loop with no end, and by the finish up to a third more revenue. The easiest fix would have been to just cut the money off. But I wanted the most realistic one: in real football, TV money follows the size of a country's market, not its ranking. Belgium climbed a long way in the UEFA ranking and its stadiums didn't get any fuller. Now the money follows success only part of the way, and only from the next season, the way real TV and sponsorship deals work.

All changes in 1.5
New
  • The coefficient ranking now moves. Whatever a country's clubs achieve in the three European competitions earns that country points. The last five seasons count, the most recent one most of all.
  • A country's rank decides how many European places it gets and which round its clubs enter in.
  • Above every league table there's a row with your country's rank and its places for each competition, with each competition's trophy in front. Tap it to see all 51 countries with rank, movement, this season, total and places.
  • On 5 July of a new career a letter arrives: where your country stands and what that means for you.
  • Every season, the day after the Continental Cup final, a letter tells you whether your country held its place, climbed or dropped, with the full list.
  • Below the top-flight table you can see which competition and which round the cup winners go into. In the row above, a silver cup marks that competition.
  • When a country climbs, its league's reputation rises with it. European places and standing follow straight away. TV money, sponsors, the club shop and crowds follow from the next season, but only part of the way, just like in real football: a country's money depends mostly on its market.
  • Win in Europe with a small country and you earn your money through Europe and better players, not through a TV deal as if you were suddenly England.
  • If a country's best clubs become stronger than the rest of the world, there's a little more money for that country too.
  • "What's new" in the main menu shows the card "New in 1.5 · Your country in Europe".
Better
  • The world's money stays stable over many seasons, and wages rise more slowly than in 1.4.
  • A player's first wage demand is always a round figure.
Fixed
  • A player who is carrying a knock and suspended at the same time no longer ends up in your starting XI. Since 1.3 he could stop the match from starting.
  • A club that has gone bust no longer gets promoted. Before, it went up and was then relegated again by force, leaving the league above one club short for good. Now the best of the relegated sides in the league above stays up in its place.
